The new hybrid system in the Toyota RAV4 significantly improves both range and performance through several key advancements:

  • Extended Electric Range: Under the capable hands of its new lithium-ion battery (22.7 kWh), the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) proves itself in achieving significantly higher all-electric ranges up to 100 km (62 miles, WLTP combined), fully catering to most daily driving requirements-pushing far ahead of previous generations. Some sources claim even a higher BEV cruising range of 150 km (93 miles) in selected markets due to better battery kappa and power innovations.
  • Fast Charge Capabilty: DC fast charging of up to 50 kW is applied in the new system, which charges the battery from 10% to 80% in as little as 30 minutes. The new upgraded AC charger (11 kW) fast-tracks charging at home or through public facilities and cuts previous charge time to half.
  • More Powerful Motors: The enhanced front motor now delivers 150 kW (a gain of 16 kW) and allows the total system output for the AWD plug-in hybrid to reach 304 DIN hp for fast-off-the-line pace (0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds). Motor output has also been raised in the standard hybrid models which means superior handling and response, with FWD hybrid at 226 hp and AWD hybrid at 236 hp playing to seamless acceleration.
  • Efficiency and Handling: Efficiency is aided through the use of silicon carbide power semiconductors to minimize power loss and raise fuel economy. With the battery contained underneath and placed flat-with a low center of gravity and enhanced body rigidity-it do add to their appealing driving dynamics and handling.
  • Intelligent Energy Management: The system includes geo-fencing technology to enable or limit electric driving according to actual navigation information and driving habits to utilize the battery efficiently, especially in low-emission areas.
  • Fast Charge Capabilty: With a sophisticated battery cooling system, sustained performance and charging is achieved in even the most extreme conditions.

It can be said that all these upgrades make the new RAV4 hybrid system more efficient, powerful, practical, offering an impressive electric range, a quick charge, and a better driving experience while ensuring the same reliability and efficiency that Toyota stands for.
